Practitioner FAQs

and... we are very passionate about this!

1. Our lab does not know who you are!

Your DNA sample is only identified by the barcode that was on the kit you sent back to our lab. The lab has none of your personal information. In addition, the lab will destroy your DNA sample after 90 days. Note that the data extracted from your sample will be available indefinitely on our site unless or until you choose to delete it.

2. How you label your MyHappyGenes account and reports is up to you

You have complete control over how you label your account (which is the name that displays on your reports and your raw DNA file). This is another way to protect your privacy when you choose to store or send any of this information to others.

3. We will NEVER sell your DNA data or personal information!

We believe your DNA data belongs to you. Unlike other DNA companies, we will never sell your DNA data, your personalized reports or any of your personal information, including your email, to anyone.

4. You can delete your DNA data, your reports and/or your account at any time.

Once your personal DNA data file is loaded to your account and your reports are run, you can delete your data, your reports and/or your account at any time. Although we recommend you save your data and your reports to your computer somewhere safe, if you choose to delete anything.

Report: Healthy Genes Report

No. Your health care practitioner may want to get some specialized testing done to verify the expression of a rare gene.

Reports: Diet & Lifestyle Report

No. It’s never one gene = one diet recommendation. We think of a “diet” as eating specific foods based on a category like Mediterranean, Paleo, or vegetarian. This report will show types of foods to avoid or enjoy without categorizing them.

The Healthy Genes report is designed to provide information on overall genetic health risks.

Yes. We worked with Professional Co-Op Services to put together a blood work panel that covers a large % of our genes.

Reports: Mood and Personality Report

Because it updates every time you open the report with any new data that’s been added.

The Report Summary is towards the bottom of the Mood & Personality Report.

Green means you got the correct code from both parents. Yellow means you got one correct code and one incorrect code. Red means you got two incorrect codes/alleles which reduces the function by about 70%.

A “SNiP” in genetics stands for “Single Nucleotide Polymorphism,” which refers to a variation in a single nucleotide (A, C, G, or T) within a DNA sequence, representing a common type of genetic difference between individuals within a population; essentially, it’s a small change in the DNA code.

The ID # that was assigned in the Genome Project to identify each gene.

The Characteristics affected by each gene.

The “Wrong” code in the DNA that results in a disease risk.

What codes for this gene you inherited from your mom and dad.

The chart is fully interactive and you can click on anything to find research based evidence for everything.

Click on the little arrow next to the “Results” column twice. It will organize the results by color.

Supplement Report

To get a true baseline of their symptoms, they should stop all current supplements for at least 2 days.

It can mean they are on track and do not require any supplement assistance. Alternatively, if the client tends to under-report how they are feeling, it’s possible they are under-reporting their symptoms. In this case, it’s a good idea to go through the supplement questionnaire in the office with them.

Those that are called “physician lines” are available from practitioners only and are tested batch by batch for purity and label accuracy. These supplements will contain what they say they do.

The recommended supplements are meant to be taken together as a “genetically designed multiple”. It’s best for them to wait until they have all of them together. Make sure your patients understand how important this is.

Utilize Fullscript! You can set your clients up with their supplement recommendations and email them directly from FS.

Supplements and Recommendations

Yes, it’s very useful to have your clients repeat the questionnaire so you can have objective feedback to evaluate their progress.

It’s important for clients to understand quality of the supplements is critical. This is why we recommend that you recommend doctor formulated brands like those found on FullScript. We also want you to review current medications to make sure there are no contraindications. They should be made aware that all the supplements need to be taken together or their issues will likely not be resolved.

Dr. Dunn has created a proprietary algorithm that synthesizes the inherited genetic risks (report), combined with inherited biochemical imbalances (pathways), and includes the person’s genetic expressions (symptoms they report on the questionnaire) to come up with supplement recommendations

Yes.

It helps keep track of patients’ progress. As their symptoms reduce or change they can repeat the questionnaire and it will update their supplement protocol.

When you open the report you’ll see a score between 1-100. 100 being the worst. The closer each category gets to 0 the better.

Retail: $25, WS: $49

in your portal, click on View Client Details next to the appropriate patient, scroll down to Supp report. Click “Repeat Questionnaire”.

No. The reason is we feel it would be a conflict of interest to tell someone they needed a supplement then sell it to them.

No. However, we prefer to use high quality physician’s line supplements. Many of which you can find on Fullscript.

Why Some DNA Tests Fail Extraction

some medications, some medical treatments, smoking, drinking or eating before the test.

Yes! It’s rare, but has happened. Some people will struggle to swab enough DNA to test at all, regardless of circumstances. This is because they naturally do not shed enough cells compared to others which makes it harder to extract enough DNA for testing.

Not to worry! We’ll send them another kit free of charge to retake their sample.

Try again! We will send you a new kit free of charge. If they decide they do not wish to try again we can provide them with a refund less handling and shipping costs. After 3 rounds of testing, we are unable to provide any further tests or refunds.

Working with Clients/Patients

Have them login to the account they’ve created. Click on the Blue Button “Link Account”. Have them input your practitioner code with letters & numbers: PRACT000000. A box will pop up with your name and ask them to confirm the practitioner is correct. They’ll agree to terms/conditions. Then you go to your account where you’ll see their name and Accept and Decline buttons.

On the dashboard under linked clients.

Under Linked clients, next to their name, click the toggle under “Who Can Purchase”.

Yes, and No. They will have access to the Mood & Personality report, but unless you’ve clicked the toggle to automatically share the reports with them, they won’t be able to see the reports until you share the reports with them.

No. It’s important to go over the results with your patients and make sure there are no contraindications to any medications they might be taking currently.

Click on “View Client Details” and then scroll down to the report you want to share

Yes. In their record in your portal click on “Unlink Client”.

Yes. If the client has created an account on MHG.com and linked up to your practitioner account. Click on “View Client Details” and you’ll see options to buy the DNA kit and all reports at once.

No. They will have access to the M&P report immediately. If you want the reports to automatically share with them you’ll need to click the toggle next to their name: “Share Automatically”. The only report that you have to manually send is the Supplement report. A safety feature of MHG.

Go back to your Dashboard and look next to their name. There’s a good chance you clicked the toggle giving them power to buy the reports on their own. Click the toggle again and you’ll be able to buy the reports for them.

This is based on your discretion. If you think they’ll jump to conclusions about the results or overreact, then it might be a good idea to go over all the reports in office
