Health + Over the counter DNA testing

Health + Over the counter DNA testing

Many sites offer genetic insights into your ancestry, traits, and health. They can help give you some idea on the history of your health based on ancestry or genetic makeup. However, this is just the start. If you truly want to have a clear understanding of how your genetics are playing a part in your health, you need to have a reputable company with an experienced doctor who can correctly interpret your test.

Dr. Dunn and her team at MyHappy Genes.com have been mapping the genes specifically related to your health. They have identified the genetic patterns that contribute to conditions associated with fatigue, disease, pre-existing condition, and mental/emotional health.  The MyHappyGenes 3-Dimensional Dynamic Algorithm™ is able to target and analyze thousands of specific genes.

Properly interpreting your DNA test and understanding what it means and what you should do can be tricky. Genetic testing can be a powerful tool to gauge your risk for disease. However, 23andMe, Ancestry.com, and MyHeritage use an autosomal DNA test that surveys your entire genome. This gives you a story of how you are connected to populations around the world. What they don’t do is give you an accurate account of how your health is affected by your DNA.

Proper genetic testing has potential health benefits. Test results can provide a sense of relief from uncertainty or help people make informed decisions about managing their health care. Your results may point out issues that you thought you would just have to live with but now you can be directed towards treatments.

Your Health and Genetics

23andme, AncestryDNA, and MyHeritage are all fun to do. It’s interesting to find out about the people in your past and where they come from. But when you want to get serious about your health care you need to get a proper genetic test done with a technician who truly understands what they are doing.

Many of the DNA testing companies claim that they can give you a family health history tool to track generations of health.  But this will not explain any current health issues you may be experiencing or how to deal with them. In her free book, Genetic Compassion, Dr. Dunn will help you to understand how genes play a very important role in how we feel. She also explains why companies such as 23andme, AncestryDNA, and MyHeritage don’t give you the full details or run a complete test to determine exactly what your medical DNA consists of.
