There is a growing body of evidence that genetics have a role in immunity. Our immune system is incredibly complex. Defense against infection is increasingly recognized to be complex and is shaped by the contributions of multiple genes and a multitude of environmental factors, including your diet.
Everyone’s immune system is slightly different. Variants and mutations in your DNA may leave you more susceptible to sickness. Your immune cells have various demands for nutrients, including glucose, glutamine, and fatty acids. These nutrients are metabolized to generate energy expenditure. They are also used to generate cellular building blocks for the biosynthesis of cellular components. Lacking in these nutrients causes your body’s immune system to slow down. If you have a variant or mutation it can become a much more serious problem.
